Harborton, VA

Tucked along Pungoteague Creek on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, Harborton is a small waterfront village shaped by its maritime history. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, it served as a bustling steamboat stop and fishing port connecting the Eastern Shore to the wider Chesapeake Bay. While the commercial factories and busy wharves are long gone, the village retains its historic character, with older coastal homes, large yards, and quiet lanes that lead straight to the water.

Today, Harborton is a peaceful residential community where daily life revolves around the creek. It is an ideal setting for boating, fishing, and crabbing, with a public boat ramp at Dock Point that makes getting out on the water easy. The village offers a slow, quiet pace of living, while nearby towns like Onancock are just a short drive away for grocery stores, restaurants, and essential services.
