Hargill, TX

Hargill is a census-designated place in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The 2020 census counted 800 residents. Hargill is part of the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community's history dates back to the early 1900s. Zoned campuses include Hargill Elementary School, Brewster K-8 School, and Edinburg North High School. That mix gives Hargill a clear local shape within Texas, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. At that time, the Missouri Texas Land and Irrigation Company owned approximately 60,000 acres of land, including the area that would later become Hargill. Hargill is situated at the junction of Farm Roads 490 and 493 in Hidalgo County, approximately 24 miles northeast of McAllen.
