Harmony, NJ

Harmony is a Warren County CDP within Harmony Township, a named village area with its own census boundary and postal identity. The 2010 census counted 441 residents. The township was formed in 1839 from parts of Greenwich and Oxford townships and takes its name from Harmon Shipman, an early settler. Its roads run through the farm country along the Delaware River side of western New Jersey, with preserved open land and old farmsteads shaping the landscape around the settlement. The Pennsylvania line is close by, and seasonal weather keeps the roads closely tied to the valley.

The Hoff-Vannatta Farmstead gives Harmony a strong point of local memory. The Harmony Township Historical Society has worked since 2004 to restore the house, barn, wagon houses, and other buildings, keeping a nineteenth-century farm property in the township's present-day landscape. Township offices, schools, and larger shopping trips tie the CDP to the surrounding rural area. Harmony is experienced through country roads, working land, and historic properties, with township services spread across the larger community.
