Hart, TX

Hart is a quiet, small farming town located in the Texas Panhandle in southern Castro County. The community dates back to 1899, when rancher T.W. Hart settled the area, later running the local post office and general store out of his ranch house. When the railroad came through in the 1920s, the community shifted closer to the new depot and grew into a practical supply and shipping point for local growers and cattle ranchers.

Life in Hart today is calm and centered on the surrounding farmland, friendly neighbors, and the Hart Independent School District. It offers authentic rural living while keeping you within reach of larger hubs, sitting about 15 miles southeast of Dimmitt and an easy 30-minute drive from Plainview. The town even has a neat claim to fame: in 2010, a rare meteorite discovered just down the road was officially named after Hart. It is a solid, unpretentious place to settle down if you appreciate open skies and a slow-paced country lifestyle.
