Hartford is a growing suburban city in Minnehaha County, South Dakota, located northwest of Sioux Falls. Originally named Oaksville in 1878 and renamed in 1881 after Hartford, Connecticut, the residential community of approximately 3,478 features half-mile apple tree nature trails and is served by the West Central School District for public education locally.
