About Hartman
Hartman is a Prowers County statutory town on Colorado's southeastern plains. Its post office opened in 1908, and the town took its name from W. P. Hartman, a railroad official. The old Hartman Gymnasium, built around 1938 through New Deal-era work, is listed in the Colorado State Register and remains a notable example of WPA construction in the county. The 710,810-square-meter town footprint centers that railroad-era civic history.
