About Hasson Heights

Hasson Heights occupies the hill country above Oil City's North Side, in Cornplanter Township, with the Allegheny River down in the valley below. The name belongs to a CDP, but the local picture is more useful than a boundary line: this is the residential high ground overlooking the river and Oil Creek, tied closely to Oil City's north-side streets, schools, and neighborhood history. The adjoining Oil City streets also carry names from the oil boom, and the rise from river to ridge is part of every trip home.

The slopes tell the story. After flooding pushed development away from the river flats, houses climbed the hills, and the North Side Historic District grew into a dense collection of late-19th- and early-20th-century homes, churches, and schools. Hasson Park adds a 48-acre green break with ball fields, a pool, and room to wander. From up here, the Oil City valley reads as a place shaped by oil, steep streets, and the Allegheny's bend.
