About Haven

Haven is a Reno County city laid out in 1886 and incorporated in 1901, though its post office dates to 1873. The town grew in the agricultural country southwest of Hutchinson, with streets and services organized around a small central business district. Haven USD 312 serves the community and nearby rural areas through Haven Grade School, Haven Middle School, and Haven High School. The district’s Wildcats identity gives the town a shared school calendar that reaches beyond the city limits.

October’s Haven Fall Festival turns downtown into the town’s biggest annual gathering, with a parade, food vendors, craft booths, pedal pull, arm wrestling, cornhole, and live music. The event pulls school groups, the booster club, city staff, and local businesses into the same weekend. Outside the festival, Haven remains a small south-central Kansas city tied to Reno County farm roads and Hutchinson services. Its character comes through in the combination of an old post office town plan, a local school district, and a very specific fall weekend.
