Hawesville, KY

Hawesville is Hancock County’s seat on the south bank of the Ohio River, with Kentucky Route 69 crossing to Cannelton, Indiana, on the Lincoln Trail Bridge. Richard Hawes donated the land for the county seat when Hancock County was formed in 1829; the town’s first post office opened in 1830 and Hawesville incorporated in 1836.
