Hawk Point, MO

Hawk Point is a Lincoln County city whose name comes from hawks that nested near the original town site. A post office there dates to 1840, and when the Burlington Railroad arrived in 1904 the name stayed with the railroad town. The 2020 census counted 676 residents. Hawk Point sits in the farm country between Troy and Warrenton, with the Lincoln County R-III School District serving local students and Hawk Point Elementary providing a nearby school presence.

That combination of post office, railroad, and school still gives Hawk Point its shape. The city’s local history collection, “A Harvest of Memories,” gathers photographs and community accounts at City Hall, while the school district ties the city to the larger county network. The original hawk-nesting reference survives in the name, and the railroad-era town plan survives in the compact civic center.
