Haydenville, OH

Tucked along the Hocking River just southeast of Logan, Haydenville is a quiet community of around 300 residents with a truly distinctive look. Founded in the mid-1800s, it holds a unique place in state history as Ohio's last fully company-owned town. When the local clay works and mining operation expanded in the late 19th century, nearly everything in town was built from the factory's own dark red brick and decorative tiles. You can still see that craftsmanship everywhere today, including the striking Methodist church, the famous Round House, and rows of patterned brick homes.

Daily life in Haydenville is peaceful and rural, framed by wooded hills and the winding river. While everyday shopping, dining, and healthcare are only a quick drive up Route 33 in Logan, the village retains a strong sense of heritage. Historical markers and scenic valley roads preserve the memory of the old clay mines, the historic tunnel, and hillside settlements like Redrow Holler. It offers a relaxed, small-scale setting for anyone drawn to authentic history and easy access to the greater Hocking Hills region.
