About Hazel Crest

Hazel Crest is a village in Cook County, Illinois, and a suburb of Chicago. Originally settled in 1870 as the farming community of South Harvey, it received its current name in 1895. The community of approximately 13,800 is home to the not-for-profit Advocate South Suburban Hospital and is served by the Hazel Crest Park District. Public education is administered by Hazel Crest School District 152½ for elementary students.
