About Hazel Park

Hazel Park is a city in Oakland County, Michigan, approximately one mile north of downtown Detroit. Incorporated as a city in 1941 and known as The Friendly City, the community of approximately 15,000 was home to Hazel Park Raceway, a respected Thoroughbred and Standardbred horse racing facility that operated from 1949 to 2018. Public education is administered by the Hazel Park School District.
