Hazen is an incorporated city in Mercer County, North Dakota, situated fifteen minutes south of Lake Sakakawea on the Missouri River plateau. Established as a railroad town in 1913 near lignite coal energy facilities, the agricultural trade center of approximately 2,453 is served by the Hazen Public School District locally.
