Healy Lake, AK

Healy Lake is a community in Alaska's Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, roughly 30 miles east of Delta Junction in Interior Alaska. Access is by river or plane, and the settlement sits beside a five-mile lake on the Healy River. Its history reaches back through Upper Tanana Athabascan use of the area as a summer fish camp, followed by a trading post at the river's mouth around 1907. The Healy Lake Village Council continues to organize community life from this remote lakeside setting, where water, seasonal movement, and cultural continuity remain part of the local story.
