About Heath Springs

Heath Springs is a Lancaster County town of 742 residents in the 2020 census, incorporated in 1890 and named for the firm Heath & Springs. Its setting is tied to the old Southern Railway line and to U.S. 521, which leads toward the Battle of Hanging Rock site. The Heath Springs Depot, built in 1903, handled passengers and farm freight from cotton, cottonseed, cotton oil, textiles, and nearby granite quarries; it remains a National Register landmark.

The town's working map still includes Rico Industries on Heath Springs Industrial Drive, a manufacturer of licensed sports goods and accessories. Town Hall, council meetings, the depot rental, and a local events calendar provide the civic layer, while the Battle of Hanging Rock Historic Site places a Revolutionary War battlefield a few miles away. Heath Springs brings those pieces together in a small Lancaster County town where railroad-era industry, current manufacturing, and a nearby 1780 battlefield remain part of the local orientation in Lancaster County.
