Heilwood, PA

Heilwood is a census-designated place in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, United States. The 2010 census counted 711 residents. In 1850, a portion of Wheatfield Township was sectioned off to create Pine Township, named for its extensive pine forests. Guthrie established a logging settlement consisting of five frame houses, a store room, stables, a blacksmith shop, and several other outbuildings in the 1880s. That mix gives Heilwood a clear local shape within Pennsylvania, with older layers still visible in current places.
