Helmer, IN

Helmer is a Steuben County CDP whose shape still follows the Wabash railroad corridor. A long passing siding remains, and the community once served as the junction for a short Wabash branch to Stroh, built to reach a cement plant. The Helmer community post office was discontinued in 1993, but the place-name designation remains in postal records, keeping transportation infrastructure at the center of Helmer's story.
