Herndon is a city in Rawlins County, Kansas, United States. The 2020 census counted 119 residents. Herndon was originally called Pesth and under the latter name was laid out in 1878. Herndon was renamed Herndon in 1879, in honor of William H. Herndon Ox Roast - is held every five years. Ox Roast kicks off the day with a parade followed by a lunch of pit smoked beef, live music, cow patty bingo, and an outhouse race in the afternoon.
