Highland Springs is a census-designated place in Henrico County, Virginia, located three miles east of Richmond. Founded in the 1890s by Edmund Sewell Read as an early streetcar suburb, the community developed along the electric railway line that connected the capital to the Seven Pines National Cemetery. Today, the residential neighborhood of approximately 14,300 is a key suburb of the Richmond metropolitan area, offering a humid subtropical climate.
