Hillsboro Pines is a quiet, tucked-away pocket in northern Broward County with roughly 500 residents. At the heart of the neighborhood sits Trooper Phillip A. Black Memorial Park, a private green space established in 1976 when local resident Hugh Stillman donated the land in honor of a fallen state trooper. It gives the area a unique, resident-owned centerpiece that sets a friendly, close-knit tone for the community.

The Hillsboro Pines Civic Association keeps the grounds in shape through neighborhood donations and regular volunteer workdays. The park features a basketball court, horseshoe pits, plenty of open lawn, and even a canal boat ramp for getting out on the water. With no formal HOA overseeing the neighborhood, this shared park essentially functions as everyone's extended backyard, giving families an easy spot to host birthday parties, celebrate holidays, and catch up with neighbors.
