Hochatown, OK

Hochatown sits just north of Broken Bow along Highway 259, surrounded by the dense pine forests and rolling hills of southeastern Oklahoma. While only a few hundred people live here full-time, the community feels much bigger thanks to the steady stream of visitors heading to Broken Bow Lake and Beavers Bend State Park. The original town was actually submerged back in the 1960s when the river was dammed to create the lake, which prompted residents to rebuild higher up along the ridge.

Today, daily life moves at the pace of a lively mountain resort. The main road is packed with cedar cabins, casual eateries, local breweries, and outfitters offering everything from fly fishing gear to boat rentals. Families are served by Broken Bow Public Schools, and most people make the quick eight-mile drive south into Broken Bow for major grocery runs and everyday services. It offers a unique mix of scenic outdoor living, quiet pine-woods seclusion, and the energetic bustle of a popular vacation spot.
