Hockessin, DE

Hockessin is a New Castle County census-designated place in northern Delaware, close to the Pennsylvania line. Its history goes back to 1688, when several families settled in what became a small village. Today Hockessin is largely a bedroom community, but it still has traces of local agriculture, including mushroom farms in the area. Community traditions include Fourth of July activities, and the overall feel is suburban but established, with Wilmington, Newark, and southeastern Pennsylvania all within easy reach.
