Holdenville is a city and the county seat of Hughes County, Oklahoma, originally founded as a Creek settlement named Echo. Renamed in honor of railroad developer J.F. Holden and hosting the annual Fall Festival and Holdenville Lake recreation area, the community of approximately 5,902 is served by the Holdenville Public Schools district locally today.
