Holland, MA

The Holland census-designated place covers the town center and other populated areas in the eastern part of the Town of Holland. It had 1,551 residents in the 2020 census; the larger town counted 2,603. Holland sits in southeastern Hampden County, where the Quinebaug River, Hamilton Reservoir, forested hills, and Rattlesnake Mountain shape the map. The settlement grew from farming along the river floodplain, then added mills for lumber and grain. Today the town center gathers town hall, library, elementary school, fire and police services, and the local Congregational Church around a small civic cluster.

Outdoor access sits close to that civic center. Holland Pond, also called Lake Siog, is a 70-acre pond with a public beach and picnic sites at Lake Siog Park. Hamilton Reservoir adds boating and fishing, and Quinebaug Woods provides a public walking trail, while the Quinebaug River continues through the surrounding forest and wetland landscape. Holland Elementary serves Pre-K through sixth grade; older students attend Tantasqua Regional schools in Sturbridge.
