Holley, OR

Holley is a Linn County census-designated place and unincorporated community about four miles southwest of Sweet Home on Oregon Route 228, near the Calapooia River. The 2020 census counted 390 residents. The community sits in the upper Calapooia valley, where the road leaves the Willamette Valley and begins pointing toward the Cascade foothills. Holley also gave its name to Holley blue agate, a semi-precious gemstone once found in the area.

The river is still the strongest local feature. Linn County's McClun Wayside lies about two miles southeast of Holley, with fishing, some swimming, picnic space, and trout stocking along the Upper Calapooia. Route 228 carries the broader travel story, forming part of a backroad route from the valley through Holley and onward toward the mountains. For residents, the community is a small collection of homes and local roads; for visitors, it is a river stop and a gateway into the upper Calapooia landscape. The small settlement is still closely tied to that corridor.
