About Holmen

Holmen is a village in La Crosse County, Wisconsin, located within the scenic Driftless Area of the upper Mississippi River Valley. Settled by Norwegian immigrants in 1862 and incorporated in 1946, the community has grown to approximately 11,400 residents. The village is characterized by the wooded bluffs of the Coulee Region, with the Mississippi River passing just southwest of the town. Public education is administered by the Holmen School District, which operates a local high school.
