Home Garden is an unincorporated community in Kings County just southeast of Hanford, west of State Route 43 and south of State Route 198. It is one of the county's community service districts, so county departments handle street maintenance, sheriff, and fire protection while Home Garden Community Services District handles water, street lighting, refuse, and sewer coordination. The district formed in 1959 after residents' wells and septic systems were under strain, and the community later shifted from acre-sized lots with poultry, livestock, and gardens toward smaller residential parcels. Gardenside Elementary sits near the center, while scattered commercial uses line 10th Avenue. Home Garden is a San Joaquin Valley address with Hanford close by, but its own water district, school, and service map give it a distinct local structure.
