Homer City, PA

Homer City is an Indiana County borough named for the Greek poet Homer by founder William Wilson in 1854, then incorporated on September 26, 1872. The Hoodlebug Trail now gives the borough a different kind of through-line: it follows the former Pennsylvania Railroad route north toward Indiana and south toward Black Lick, with trailhead facilities and historical markers along the way. Homer-Center schools sit just south of the borough line, while the old rail corridor stays part of the local map. Homer City is a western Pennsylvania borough where a literary name, a railroad grade, and a public trail all share the same frame.
