About Homerville

Homerville is the Clinch County seat, founded around the Atlantic & Gulf Railroad after John Homer Mattox donated land for a station. The railroad first called the place Station No. 11, but Homerville was incorporated in 1869 and soon became the county’s courthouse town. U.S. 84 and U.S. 441 cross at the center, with Waycross east, Valdosta west, and the Okefenokee country stretching through Clinch County. Homerville is southeast Georgia in a straight local read: courthouse square, railroad beginning, two highways, and timber-country history.
