Hop Bottom is a borough of Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The 2020 census counted 310 residents. The name comes from the hop, a plant providing flowers for brewing. " The present name is derived from nearby Hop Bottom Creek. Hop Bottom makes sense once you see how its past, landscape, and current gathering spots overlap. The useful thing to know about Hop Bottom is that its older landmarks and current settings belong to one connected place. Native Americans once lived in the area, and the only clear meadows to be found were near the bottom of the creek. Hop Bottom is located at the junction of U.S. Route 11 and Pennsylvania Route 167. Hop Bottom is also seven miles west of Interstate 81.
