Hopatcong, NJ

Hopatcong is a Sussex County borough on Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey's largest lake and the main reason the community exists in its current form. The lake is partly man-made and long ago became a recreation destination, with boating, lakefront homes, and summer activity shaping local life. Hopatcong Days adds a civic weekend of events and a parade. The borough feels less like a typical inland suburb than a year-round lake community with an old resort-town thread still running through it.
