Hopewell, VA

Hopewell is an independent city in Virginia, surrounded by Prince George County and located near the Appomattox and James rivers. Its historic City Point area played an important role in colonial settlement and later in Civil War logistics, while modern Hopewell became strongly associated with industry along the river. The city has its own school division and a compact urban layout separate from the surrounding county. Hopewell feels tougher and more industrial than many small Virginia cities, with deep river history underneath it.
