Horn Lake, MS

Horn Lake is a DeSoto County city just south of Memphis, named for an oxbow lake west of town that was once part of the Mississippi River's shifting course. The Chickasaw gave up claims to land east of the Mississippi River before modern settlement transformed the area. Today Horn Lake is part of the Memphis suburban belt, with schools, shopping, warehouses, and commuter neighborhoods shaping daily life. It feels like a north Mississippi city tied closely to both river history and Memphis-area growth.
