Hosford, FL

Hosford is a Liberty County census-designated place at the junction of State Roads 20 and 65 in Florida's northwestern Big Bend. The settlement began as Coe's Mill in 1859, named for the Coe family, and later took the Hosford name as rail and timber activity shaped the area. Pine woods, sandy roads, and the long routes toward Bristol, Tallahassee, and the Gulf lowlands surround the community.

Hosford Elementary and Junior High School is one of the community's defining institutions, and the historic Hosford School and Gymnasium preserves a piece of the region's education story. The post office, school grounds, churches, and crossroads services give the settlement a local center, while State Road 20 carries trips east and west across Liberty County. The surrounding forests also shape hunting, timber work, and weekend travel across the county. Hosford is a rural Florida place where a former mill settlement became a school-and-highway community in the pine country between the Apalachicola and Ochlockonee watersheds.
