Hudson, SD

Hudson got its start in 1868 under the name Eden, named by homesteaders who fell in love with the rich farmland. When the railroad laid tracks a couple of miles away a decade later, the entire community simply picked up and moved to meet the trains. The town eventually adopted the name Hudson in the 1890s to clear up postal mix-ups, quickly growing into a bustling hub for local farming families.

Today, that grounded, neighborly character still defines the town. You can still see pieces of that heritage throughout the community, including the rustic fieldstone Boy Scout Cabin built by local hands in the 1940s. Tucked along the Big Sioux River within easy driving distance of both Sioux Falls and Sioux City, Hudson offers a quiet, tight-knit lifestyle surrounded by South Dakota farmland.
