About Hunters Hollow

Hunters Hollow is a Bullitt County home rule-class city with 324 people at the 2020 census, down from 386 in 2010. The city occupies a tiny pie-slice-shaped area in northern Bullitt County, between East Blue Lick Road and Hillview Boulevard. Hillview surrounds it to the north, east, and south; Brooks lies to the west, and downtown Louisville is 15 miles north.

Hunters Hollow was incorporated in 1979 and named for an existing residential subdivision. Its footprint is almost entirely residential houses and apartments, with Material Handling Systems as a notable business exception. The city grew out of local concern about annexation by Hillview, a story shared by several small cities in northern Bullitt County. Hunters Hollow's geography is unusually direct: a small independent city surrounded on three sides by its larger neighbor, with Louisville close enough to define the northern horizon. Its size makes the surrounding county's boundary history unusually visible in the streetscape and city map of this corner.
