About Hydaburg

Hydaburg is a first-class city on Prince of Wales Island in the Prince of Wales-Hyder Census Area, Alaska. Established in 1911 through the consolidation of three Haida villages on Cordova Bay, the community of nearly four hundred residents serves as the headquarters of the Hydaburg Cooperative Association, a federally recognized tribe. As the southernmost city on the island, Hydaburg preserves a rich Haida cultural heritage, featuring totem parks, while the local economy relies heavily on fishing and forestry.
