Hytop, AL

Hytop lives up to its name, perched high on the Cumberland Plateau in Jackson County just a few miles south of the Tennessee border. With around 400 residents, it is a small, quiet mountain community where homes are spread out along scenic wooded ridges. State Route 79 runs right through the center of town, giving locals an easy drive south toward Skyline or north across state lines for work and weekend trips.

The area is best known for its outdoor recreation, sitting just minutes from the popular Walls of Jericho trailhead. That rugged canyon network draws hikers from across the region to explore limestone bluffs, clear creek pools, and hidden waterfalls. For anyone looking for a slower pace of life, Hytop offers plenty of privacy, fresh mountain air, and miles of backcountry right in the backyard.
