Indian Lake, PA

Indian Lake is a borough in Somerset County built right along the curves of a five-mile, horseshoe-shaped lake. Life here naturally revolves around the water, with homes, private docks, and the local marina looking out over 20 miles of shoreline. Because it sits high up in the Laurel Highlands, the area gets cooler summer weather and plenty of fresh mountain air. Neighbors enjoy a peaceful, secluded setting, but Somerset and the Pennsylvania Turnpike are close enough for easy grocery runs, commuting, and everyday errands.

Outdoor recreation shapes the community, especially during the spring and summer. Golfers have two courses right in the neighborhood, including Indian Lake Golf Club, which was the very first course designed by Arnold Palmer. Residents spend sunny afternoons out on pontoon boats, fishing, or walking the James W. McIntyre Trail along the water. With Shanksville-Stonycreek schools serving local kids, it is an easygoing mountain community where people come to enjoy lakefront living and a slower pace of life.
