About Inman

Inman is a McPherson County city that began as Aiken in 1887 and took its present name two years later, after Major Henry Inman and nearby Lake Inman. The town's deeper local thread is Mennonite: Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church was the first Mennonite congregation in the Buhler-Inman area, and several Mennonite churches still serve the community. Main Street also holds the Inman Museum and library, while the elementary and junior-senior high schools keep daily life centered in town. Inman USD 448's Teutons carry the school identity forward. Inman is a small Kansas place where a lake name, a church network, and a straight main street tell most of the story.
