Ivanhoe, TX

Ivanhoe is a Tyler County city in Deep East Texas, about seven miles south of Woodville on U.S. 69/287. The 2020 census counted 1,680 residents. The city is a large pine-woods development with four lakes, 12 wooded parks, roughly 3,900 lots, and nearly 60 miles of roads. Woodville supplies nearby county-seat services, while Beaumont, Lufkin, Livingston, and Jasper are the larger regional destinations. The roads and lakes divide Ivanhoe into residential pockets, with Woodville serving as the nearest county-seat center for many errands.

Ivanhoe was established in the early 1960s as a lake-and-woods subdivision and incorporated in November 2009. Its map is a spread of residential roads around water, parks, and wooded lots, with no single traditional main street. Full-time residents share the area with weekend property owners and retirees, and boating, fishing, and water access remain part of the community's daily rhythm. The place is a city now, but its basic shape still comes from the lake-development plan that preceded incorporation.
