About Jackson

Jackson is a city and the county seat of Amador County, California, situated at the junction of State Route 49 and State Route 88. Originally home to the Northern Sierra Indians, the historic Gold Rush community of approximately 5,048 features the landmark Argonaut and Kennedy Mines, designated as California Historical Landmarks. Public education is administered by the Amador County Unified School District, which operates Argonaut High School.
