Jayton, TX

Set in the wide-open ranch country of West Texas, Jayton serves as the quiet county seat of Kent County. The town got its start in the 1880s as a settlement called Jay Flat, named after a local ranching family. When the railroad pushed through the area in 1907, residents packed up and moved the entire community two miles down the road to be closer to the tracks.
