Jean Lafitte is an incorporated town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, situated along Bayou Barataria twenty miles south of New Orleans. Named in honor of nineteenth-century privateer Jean Lafitte and historic for its commercial fishing and shrimping industry, the coastal bayou community of approximately 2,266 is served by Jefferson Parish Public Schools locally.
