Jeff, KY

Located just a couple of miles southeast of Hazard, Jeff is a quiet community tucked along the North Fork of the Kentucky River. Surrounded by steep, wooded hills, it offers a peaceful mountain backdrop with quick access to the county seat. The area got its straightforward name back in 1902, when the local post office opened and took its moniker from an early settler, Jefferson Combs.

Like much of Perry County, Jeff was shaped by the region's historic coal and timber industries, fostering a close-knit, down-to-earth atmosphere. Today, it serves as a relaxed residential pocket along the river valley. Residents enjoy a slower pace of life at home while staying just minutes away from the schools, regional hospital, and shopping options in neighboring Hazard.
