Jenkinsburg, GA

Jenkinsburg is a Butts County city five miles northwest of Jackson and five miles southeast of Locust Grove, with U.S. 23 carrying the regional traffic between them. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Jenkinsburg as a town in 1889, and the name came from the Jenkins family, the original owners of the townsite. That early connection still shows up in the city’s compact civic footprint, where city hall and the town’s practical services gather around Maple Drive and the highway.

The clubhouse behind city hall, next to Memorial Park, gives Jenkinsburg a place for gatherings and private rentals. The Jenkinsburg Garden Club donated it to the city in 2008, and the city later renovated it for community use. A Butts County recycling center operates here, and Fire Station 4 is staffed around the clock. With Interstate 75 access at nearby Locust Grove and Jackson as the county seat, Jenkinsburg works as a small civic community with its routines gathered around Maple Drive and U.S. 23.
