Jolivue, VA

Jolivue is an Augusta County census-designated place in the Staunton-Waynesboro micropolitan area, with the Valley Railroad Stone Bridge supplying its most distinctive landmark. Erected across Folly Mills Creek in 1884, the four-arch granite bridge belonged to the railroad line between Staunton and Lexington before the tracks were removed. Today it stands beside Interstate 81, where the old railroad route and the modern highway meet. Jolivue is part of the Shenandoah Valley's road-and-rail geography, with Augusta County and nearby Staunton providing the larger civic and service centers. The place is more a named settlement than a conventional town center, so the stone bridge, creek, and interstate are the useful points of orientation. Jolivue is a Virginia Valley address with a railroad relic still visible from the highway.
