About Judsonia
Judsonia is a White County city with two names in its past. The area began as Prospect Bluff, founded by Erastus Gregory in 1840; the settlement was renamed Judsonia after Baptist missionary Adoniram Judson, helping promote the Baptist school that became Judson University in 1871. The city sits just north of the Little Red River, near where it turns toward the White River, and Prospect Bluff Days keeps the older name in circulation. Judsonia's map is a mix of river, Baptist education, and a town name changed to tie the settlement to its school.
