Junction City, CA

Junction City is a Trinity County census-designated place eight miles west of Weaverville, where Canyon Creek meets the Trinity River at the foot of the Trinity Alps. Cabins appeared here in the 1850s, and the settlement first went by Milltown because mills occupied the river corridor. The name changed in 1861, when the creek mouth and river crossing served several transportation routes. The Trinity River still runs through town, and the surrounding mountain geography makes the road connection to Weaverville part of the local map.

The community's clearest shared institution is Junction City School, a one-school district serving about 70 children from transitional kindergarten through eighth grade. Its campus occupies ten acres along the Trinity River, and current programs include STEM, visual and performing arts, and after-school electives. School grounds sit alongside the water as a local reference point. Junction City remains a river-and-road settlement whose early mill history, canyon junction, and school campus all occupy the same geographic frame.
